He led captivity captive

In the end times, the catholics and other religions who called themselves “christians”,  are still in bondage with the death of Jesus Christ, that is why the “Lent Season” is their most celebrated event.

Most people consider  the death of Jesus Christ as the highest event in the history of mankind. They call it the Lent Season.

What is Lent?

Lent is a forty-day season of preparation for Easter. Lent always begins on a Wednesday, called Ash Wednesday.

Why 40 days? Because, Jesus fasted  and was tempted in the wilderness for 40 days. Lent, then is the time of fasting, prayer, temptation and repentance. Lent is not required anywhere in scriptures, but it has been a custom,  which Christians have practiced for most of the last thousand years.

Fasting The law of fasting requires a Catholic from the 18th Birthday [Canon 97] to the 59th Birthday [i.e. the beginning of the 60th year, a year which will be completed on the 60th birthday] to reduce the amount of food eaten from normal. The Church defines this as one meal a day, and two smaller meals which if added together would not exceed the main meal in quantity. Such fasting is obligatory on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. The fast is broken by eating between meals and by drinks which could be considered food (milk shakes, but not milk). Alcoholic beverages do not break the fast; however, they seem contrary to the spirit of doing penance.

In basic terms, Lent is the season before Ester, in the West lasting liturgically from Ash Wednesday until the Mass of Holy Thursday  exclusive . The evening of Holy Thursday begins The Easter Triduum which lasts from Holy Thursday to the Evening Prayer of Easter Day.

The purpose of Lent is to be a season of fasting, self-denial, Christian growth, penitence, conversions, and simplicity. Lent, which comes from  the Teutonic (Germanic) word for springtime, can be viewed as a s a spiritual spring cleaning: a time for taking spiritual inventory and then cleaning out those things which hinder our corporate and personal relationships with Jesus Christ and our service to him.

In the  Member –  Church  of God International with Brother Eliseo Soriano as the Presiding Minister, the Resurrection of Jesus Christ is more important than His  death.  In the Church of God, there is no death. For death is not the  extinction of life but life  on  “sleeping” mode  only.

In Acts 7:59 : And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus,  received my spirit.

For this reason the  Thanksgiving Celebration in the Church is held every week in almost all  major cities of the world.

The members in the Church  fully understand the meaning when Saint  Paul wrote  “CHRIST LED CAPTIVITY CAPTIVE”.When Christ  was alive, He  was a captive man;  when He rose from the dead, He becomes  a Risen Savior. From being a captured man, Christ becomes    Conqueror  of the dead spirits.

When Jesus Christ died,  after  three days and three nights, He went to the prison of the wicked spirits  proclaiming salvation. He offered salvation to those who believed and embraced  His doctrines.

According to Saint Paul in Ephesians 4:8 –Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.

Thanks be to God for his unspeakable gift.
